ABOUT ME:
I am an American male, 30something years old, with a 20+ year background in various martial disciplines including; Wing Chun Kung-Fu, Taekwondo, Boxing, Judo, Brazilian Jiujutsu, Wushu, Capoeira, and Ninjutsu.  I teach Kickboxing in Los Angeles.  I value ability and intelligence over rank. And I love a challenge.

  1. 1. Can someone know right away what form/style of martial arts suites them best or is it like sampling different flavors of ice cream until you find the one you like/ suites you best.

    2. Of all the different styles of martial arts you've studied, which style would you say suites you best now as opposed to twenty years ago?

    1. 1. Since martial arts are usually based on some form of philosophy, it's probably best to research the philosophies attached to various arts and see which of those fit who you are OR who you hope to become. Once the head and heart are in the right space, the body will follow. And in reference to the body, research the movements of the style and experiment with which ones suit your body and temperament the best, or which ones may help you mold your body and temperament.

      2) I would say that Wing Chun is still the most useful to me, but Ninjutsu is probably more useful to me now than Taekwondo. (knees gettin' old...) Ninjutsu (taijutsu) is extremely economical and places an emphasis on technique over athleticism, and technique remains as long as it's practiced. I may have been the fastest kicker once, but there are probably an bunch of younger guys now whose natural speed is waaay faster than mine.
